The School of Ultimate Leadership (SOUL), Gandhinagar, Gujarat is an upcoming leadership institution dedicated to enabling authentic leaders to advance public good. It aims to broaden the landscape of values-based leadership in India through diverse program offerings across the political, public policy, and social sectors. SOUL aims to set a global benchmark in leadership development.
To strengthen our intellectual core, we invite applications for the role of Head–Research and Insights.
Role Overview
The Head – Research and Insights will drive scholarly research and insights on leadership by synthesizing behavioural science, psychology and applied practice. The role involves developing evidence-based models, case repositories, and publications that advance the field of leadership studies. The role demands a visionary scholar-practitioner who can derive insights from real-world impact, establish them in theoretical frameworks, and synthesise the best from western, Indian and eastern philosophies/theories in leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-impact research and insights on “leadership” aligned with SOUL’s mission.
- Integrate insights from behavioural science, psychology, neuroscience, and management studies into actionable leadership models.
- Translate research findings into leadership programs, case studies, and toolkits. Build a system to document case studies on public leadership.
- Publish high-quality research and white papers and develop knowledge platforms.
- Supervise and mentor research fellows, public officials, faculty and visiting academics.
- Build collaborations with universities, think tanks and industry partners.
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree (PhD/Master’s) in Behavioural Science, Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership Studies, or related fields.
- Minimum 10+ years of research/academic experience, preferably with a strong publication record.
- Demonstrated expertise in leadership studies (preferably in the public domain), decision sciences, or applied behavioural research.
- Experience in leading research teams.
- Familiarity with both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Exposure to cross-cultural public leadership or Indian/Asian leadership studies will be a strong plus.

The Head will drive research and insights in the field of public leadership placed at the intersection of behavioural science, leadership studies, and applied practice. The role demands a visionary scholar-practitioner who can derive insights from real world impact, establish them in theoretical frameworks, and synthesise the best from western, Indian and eastern philosophies/theories in leadership. The role also demands developing a strong team of research fellows and practitioners and contribute to the reputation of SOUL in leadership development.
- Lead the Centre for Research and Insights in Public Leadership at SOUL, bringing out cutting-edge research, insights and publications on leadership aligned with SOUL’s mission.
- Build collaborations with universities, think tanks, industry, and government to design and oversee studies on leadership behaviour, decision-making, ethics, and Indian Knowledge systems across diverse contexts. Build a system to document case studies on public leadership.
- Translate research findings into leadership programs, case studies, and toolkits.
- Integrate insights from behavioural science, psychology, neuroscience, and management studies into actionable leadership models for public officers.
- Supervise and mentor research fellows, public officials, faculty and visiting academics.
- Publish high-quality research, white papers in media, international journals, policy briefs, and develop knowledge platforms.
- Post Graduate in Behavioural Science, Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership Studies, or related fields.
- Minimum 10+ years of research/academic experience, preferably with a strong publication record.
- Demonstrated expertise in leadership (preferably in the public domain), decision sciences, or applied behavioural research.
- Experience in leading research teams.
